Web design

I've designed and continue to manage three web sites. All of them have been designed for simplicity and ease of maintenance by non-technical users.

davidperryonline.com

You're here now. This site was created using the Joomla! content management system. Joomla! is great for companies and individuals who want to be able to update their website quickly and easily, or add or remove files, but who don't wish to learn computer code or get too involved with the "guts" of the website. If your company wants to hire a designer to create your website, but you want to be able to update it yourself, Joomla! is a great way to go.

westernvirginialandtrust.org

WVLTThe website for the Western Virginia Land Trust, a non-profit in Roanoke, VA. I designed and maintain this site primarily in Frontpage, a Microsoft product that, like Joomla!, allows users to create websites quickly and easily with minimal computer knowledge. I designed this site originally with the intention that if I were hit by a bus, the executive director could take over the webmaster duties, but as time as gone by, it's gotten a little more complex. Still, it's a clean and simple site that organizes a tremendous amount of information.

ratc.org

RATCThe website for the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club. This site was designed with Frontpage, but also uses CSS, or cascading style sheets, which provide the ability to change the entire look of the site by changing settings in one document, the style sheet. However, most of the content, such as hike schedules, can be changed by just deleting the old information and inserting the new, so that you don't have to know CSS from CPR to update the site.
